Ted Berger - Bio

Ted Berger is Chief of Staff for the City of Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications.  In this role, Mr. Berger is responsible for coordinating policy, strategy, legislative and intergovernmental affairs as well as a range of other administrative and operational aspects of the department.  Previously, Mr. Berger spent 10 years with the State of Illinois serving in legislative and policy roles. His work included positions with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal, Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, Illinois Department of Transportation and Office of the Governor.  Mr. Berger has spent 12 years in the fire service and continues to be involved as a Deputy Chief for the North Park Fire Protection District in Machesney Park, Illinois.  He has also worked extensively in the field of advance and logistics coordination associated with large-scale event planning.  From 2009 until 2012, Mr. Berger actively served as a volunteer Associate Advance Staff member for the White House Office of Scheduling and Advance.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Bradley University and is currently completing a Master of Arts in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School, Center for Homeland Defense and Security.
