DOUGLAS ZLOTO - BIO

Douglas Zloto assumed the role of Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Field Office in October 2021. Previously, Mr. Zloto was the Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Field Office. He assumed this position in July 2017. As the Special Agent in Charge, Mr. Zloto is in charge of the agency’s daily operations and personnel for all of Illinois, Wisconsin and part of Indiana, which includes offices in Chicago, IL, Springfield, IL Milwaukee, WI, and Madison, WI. He also develops and implements policy as it relates to the agency’s investigative priorities and protective mission.

Mr. Zloto previously served as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Field Office. In this position, Mr. Zloto had oversight of both the financial crimes and electronic crimes task forces as well as criminal and protective squads located in the Detroit.

In 2016, Mr. Zloto was in charge of the protective detail for Democratic Presidential Candidate Senator Bernie Sanders. In 2020, Mr. Zloto was in charge of the protective detail for Democratic Vice-Presidential Nominee Kamala Harris.

Mr. Zloto began his 29-year career with the U.S. Secret Service as a Special Agent assigned to the Detroit Field Office. While assigned to Detroit, Special Agent Zloto worked criminal investigations involving counterfeit currency, bank fraud, embezzlement and threats against the President of the United States. Mr. Zloto also worked various protective assignments including the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, GA, where he was the lead advance agent for the visit of the President of Latvia.

In July 1999, Mr. Zloto was transferred to the Vice Presidential Protective Division where he spent six years protecting Vice President Gore and Vice President Cheney. Special Agent Zloto was working at the White House during the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. While on the Vice President’s detail, Mr. Zloto was promoted to his first supervisory position.  

In August 2005, Mr. Zloto was transferred to U.S. Secret Service headquarters where he worked in the Office of Administration. In November 2007, Mr. Zloto was transferred back to the field to run the Saginaw Resident Office in Saginaw, MI. Resident Agent in Charge Zloto, was responsible for the all agency activities within 13 counties in the Northeast part of the state.

Mr. Zloto received his bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University in 1990 and his Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University in Management 2007. Prior to accepting a position with the U.S. Secret Service, Mr. Zloto worked as an auditor for the Department of Defense. Doug has been married to his lovely wife, Bethany, for 28 years and they have been blest with 4 wonderful children.
