Steven Castans - Bio

With over 40 years of experience in Law Enforcement and Private Security, Steve has obtained the position of Chief of Police for the Cook County Forest Preserve District from 1981 to 2000. As Chief he was responsible for over 200 sworn officers, 20 civilians, a full-time Investigative Unit, Canine Unit, and Mounted Unit. Prior to obtain the position of Chief, Steve held the titles of Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Commander.

Steve retired from Cook County after 28 years of service to take the position of Chief Investigator for the Illinois Secretary of State from 200 to 2003. As Chief Investigator, Steve reported directly to the Under Secretary. As Chief investigator, Steve supervised a highly specialized unit that focused on Car Dealerships, titling, licensing and registration, fraud complaints and disputes between Dealerships and buyers. Steve left the Secretary of State’s office in 2003 to become Vice President of Security Management and Investigations with a privately owned company.

As Vice President of Operations, Steve oversaw day to day operation of over 200 security officers working throughout the Chicago-land area. In 2006, Steve became a principle with-in the company.

A Graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy Quantico, Virginia, Northwestern Staff and Command Evanston, Illinois, and The Southern Police Institute Louisville, Kentucky along with various other law enforcement specialty classes.

Steve is on the board of the Public Private Sector Committee, Past President of the Illinois Security Chiefs Association, and currently Advisor to the board of the Illinois Security Professionals Association. He is also a member of Chicago FBINA Association and the Illinois Chiefs of Police Association.

Currently Steve is the Director of Security for the AMA Plaza Building, 330 N. Wabash..
