Title: "Employers in the Covid-19 Era: Small Businesses Didn’t Bargain For This"

Description:

The pandemic is wreaking havoc on employers nationwide, forcing us all to become familiar with topics and acronyms we’ve never used before (PPE, FFCRA, PPP, “deep cleaning”).  As a small to mid-sized employer, you may feel like you’re in over your head.

We’ll try to make sense of issues like back-to-work readiness, to pay or not to pay employees for Covid-related absences, defining what it means to offer your employees a reasonably safe place to work and other legal trends.

Learning Objectives: After completing this program you will be able to...

  • Get a handle on the ever-changing Department of Labor requirements (and the CDC recommendations) you need to follow to keep your workplace "reasonably safe."
  • Evaluate the factors that will make the difference in getting your CARES Act loan forgiven.
  • Learn when you must (and may not) pay employees who do not come in to the office because of Covid-related issues.
  • Learn ab out recent lawsuits where employers have been blamed for allowing their employees to contract Covid-19.

SPEAKER TESTIMONIALS

Michael Potter CPPMichael Potter CPP - Apex3 Systems President
I’ve had several opportunities to attend events where Peter Skiko was the featured speaker and each time learned valuable information.  His presentation on ‘Common Legal Pittfalls for Security Providers and How to Avoid Them” is a must attend for any security leader or those responsible for contracting security at their locations.  The examples from actual cases provide insight on language to avoid in contracts and post orders as well as details on how jurors view information received; including when unable to provide information such as video evidence at trial.  Time well spent to attend the presentation.

Ms. Morignat has incredible insight into a growing and critical component for the future of security. She has an innate ability to share her knowledge in a way that makes it understandable and actionable for security professionals. AI is a large part of not only the future in security, but also very relative to current methods and operations.

Title: "Post COVID-19 After Action Review"

Description:

Were you adequately prepared to continue operations, support your employees, and service your customers during COVID-19? Organizations can use the after action review (AAR) process to assess their response to the pandemic in order to prepare for future emergencies in a proven way—with a customized plan.

G. Michael Verden, retired Secret Service agent and Founder and CEO of The Lake Forest Group, implemented the AAR process after two major events, the Olympics and Super Bowl. He’ll show you how you can apply lessons learned from an after action review to your organizations to protect your employees, based on successful Department of Homeland Security (DHS) processes and aligned with results of a recent Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) survey.

Learning Objectives: After completing this program you will be able to...

  • Use this process to improve the performance of your entire organization regarding not only emergencies but also security incidents and company events.
  • Set up an AAR framework that includes a timeline of events, the response and recovery procedures that various departments executed, identification of roles and responsibilities throughout the organization, and the effects of the incident on continuity operations.
  • Assess what worked, what didn’t, and why, the current resource capabilities in place and those you lack, what you need to change, and how you can move toward improvement.
  • Use the process to focus on learning and review to achieve maximum involvement, openness, honesty, and improvement throughout your organization by following the cycle—test, review, evaluate, modify, implement, repeat.
